  34. Thanks you for taking the time to look at Printer's Apprentice 6.5, the
  35. best font manager around. This file contains information about the
  36. software, pricing and technical support. Instructions for quickly
  37. installing Printer's Apprentice are also included. The software
  38. manual is contained in an online help file (pa.hlp). 
  39.  
  40. Printer's Apprentice is a comprehensive, 32 bit font manager for Windows 95
  41. and Windows NT 4.0. We have designed it to be the best Windows font manager
  42. available today. With this software you can examine your TrueType and ATM
  43. font collection, print a variety of elegant font sample sheets and catalogs
  44. and install/uninstall fonts. Printer's Apprentice really shines when used
  45. with uninstalled fonts located on CD-ROM's on disk. You can preview
  46. uninstalled fonts with a few mouse clicks. Printer's Apprentice can also
  47. print ultra-sharp catalog listings from CD's without installing a single
  48. fonts. If you have been looking for advanced font printing and management,
  49. Printer's Apprentice is for you!

  58. INSTALL/UNINSTALL AND SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  59. -----------------------------------------
  60. To install Printer's Apprentice, you need a computer running Windows 95
  61. or NT 4.0. We recommend at least a Pentium class machine with 16 megabytes
  62. of memory.
  63.  
  64. This version of the software does not include the Visual Basic run time
  65. (VB40032.DLL) in the distribution ZIP file. If this file is not present
  66. on your computer, you need to download a copy from the Lose Your Mind
  67. Development Web site (http://www.igi.net/~btkinkel). You can also download it
  68. from the Compuserve WINUTIL forum.

  74.         To install Printer's Apprentice 
  75.         -------------------------------
  76.         1. Create a temporary directory and unzip the distribution
  77.            .ZIP file to that directory.
  78.         2. Double click the SETUP.EXE icon found in that temporary
  79.            directory. This program will install Printer's Apprentice on 
  80.            your computer.
  81.         3. After you have installed Printer's Apprentice, you can delete
  82.            the temporary directory and the SETUP.EXE file.
  83.         4. We recommend placing the distribution .ZIP file on a backup
  84.            floppy in case you need to reinstall Printer's Apprentice.

  86. After Printers' Apprentice is installed, run the software by choosing the
  87. Printer's Aprentice icon on the Start menu.
  88.  
  89. If you need to uninstall this software, use the Start Menu to select
  90. the Uninstall item from the Printer's Apprentice group.

  189. ActiveX OCX/DLL's Shipped with Printer's Apprentice
  190. ---------------------------------------------------
  191. Printer's Apprentice, like many other Windows applications, uses ActiveX
  192. controls and DLLs. Our setup program does not copy an OCX/DLL file to your
  193. windows system directory if a newer version of the file exists. 
  194.  
  195. Unfortunatly, not all application setup programs are as friendly. For example,
  196. Printer's Apprentice was compiled with version 4.02 of tabctl32.ocx. If 
  197. another program installs version 1.02 of tabctl32.ocx without checking to make
  198. sure it is not overwriting a newer version, Printer's Apprentice will not run.
  199.  
  200. If Printer's Apprentice does not load, check the version numbers of the following
  201. files located in your windows system directory. To check a version number, 
  202. right click on the file, select "Properties" from the menu, and click the Version
  203. tab. Common OCX/DLL version conflict error messages include "Error 429, you do not
  204. have the proper license to use this functionality" and "Cannot load from file."
